2013 was a year of many things for me. I completed my first year of University, changed universities, took on a working student position in The Netherlands, and it goes. However the biggest thing that happened was that I got to go on the journey of a life time. I got to travel across thirteen countries and did it on my own. It was an emotional adventure that I am ready to start sharing with you.
I will start off with an overview of the trip that was. It will summarize where I went, what I saw, and the emotions that came up along the way. I will then go through each country week by week going into more detail about my experiences.
Following this I will talk about the hostel system, where I would stay again/suggest to others, and where I would NEVER step foot again/never suggest to anyone. I will also talk about who I met in the hostels. As hostelling is the best way to meet new people from all over the world while and abroad. Also, it is a good way to not become lonely while traveling alone.
I will then go into the food aspect of my trip and more importantly the chocolate. If you had the opportunity to follow me while I was traveling abroad you will know that there will be a whole separate piece just on chocolate. Don’t worry though there many other good foods I enjoyed on my trip; that I will share with you.
After that it will be all about air and train travel. I had many experiences, good and bad, when it came to traveling from one country to the next. Some were way worse than others and almost left me never wanting to leave where I was at the time for fear that I would have the same experience again.
Finally, I will write on the most important aspect of all…family. My trip would not have been complete if I hadn’t taken at least some time to meet some of my European family while abroad. I was very lucky to see as many as I did on short notice. I will forever be grateful for the time I got to spend with them.
Well there you have it; the blogs that will be written over the next few months. I will intertwine some other pieces as well so as to not grow tired of writing about my travels. I will be starting next week with the trip overview and on it goes from there. I hope you enjoy!
Until Next Time; breathe, relax and have fun!
